Lead Paint Disclosure
The building located at 779 Main Street, Half Moon Bay, California, was constructed before 1978 and may contain lead-based paint, which can pose health risks if disturbed. In compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lead-Based Paint Disclosure Rule, Nantucket Whale Inn is required to provide disclosure of any known lead-based paint hazards. Lead exposure is especially dangerous to children and pregnant women and may cause serious health issues.
Guests must be provided with the EPA-approved pamphlet, “Protect Your Family From Lead in Your Home,” which outlines lead-related risks and recommended safety practices. Nantucket Whale Inn has no knowledge of specific lead-based paint hazards beyond the property’s pre-1978 construction. Any available inspection or risk assessment reports will be made available upon request.
Guests should not disturb painted surfaces and must notify management immediately if they observe peeling, chipping, or deteriorating paint. Any renovation or repair work performed at the inn will comply with EPA Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) standards, ensuring certified, lead-safe practices. By proceeding with a reservation or stay, guests acknowledge receiving the required lead-based paint information and agree to follow safety guidelines. Nantucket Whale Inn is not liable for health issues relating to lead-based paint when legally required disclosures have been provided and reasonable precautions have been taken.
